Garbage in Central Iowa has the distinct honor of going to one of the best landfills in the nation. That's right - Metro Waste Authority was recognized by the Solid Waste Association of North America for Landfill Management Excellence.

What does this mean to someone who just wants to get rid of their garbage? It means safety - businesses and residents who come to our facility have a separate drop-off area, away from the large equipment. It means security - MWA works closely with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to make sure that all local, state and federal laws are met and exceeded when it comes to environmentally sound solid waste management.
