Metro Waste Authority has partnered with Des Moines Water Works, Wastewater Reclamation Authority, the City of Des Moines Stormwater Utility and with associate member cities to form the Urban Environmental Partnership (UEP).

One of the main goals of the Urban Environmental Partnership is to educate students about what they can do to help protect the environment. For that reason, the partnership has developed curricula for students in the Polk County area, as well as educational programs, tours and kits.
