Environmental Stewardship Awards
Do you know a high school senior or a college student who is pursuing an education relating to the environment? Well, that student could be in luck: Metro Waste Authority is offering an Environmental Stewardship Scholarship!
Get Some GREEN for Your Environmental Dream
Environmental protection is at the core of our organization and it drives our daily operations, as well as the services we offer. For example, landfills are scientifically engineered to protect air quality and groundwater. But, at Metro Waste Authority, we go beyond meeting those minimum environmental requirements to create smart, safe and sustainable solutions. We practice what we preach and encourage others to dream big and do the same. This is why we have established two $1,000 scholarships available to students who meet the following requirements.
- Applicants must be pursuing an environmental field.
- Applicants must be classified as a full-time student in their freshman (this includes high school graduates who are accepted at an accredited college or university), sophomore, or junior year at an accredited college or university during the time of application process, AND at the time funds are disbursed.
- Applicants must reside (permanent address) in Metro Waste Authority’s service area (Alleman, Altoona, Ankeny, Bondurant, Carlisle, Clive, Dawson, Des Moines, Elkhart, Grimes, Hartford, Jefferson, Johnston, Linden, Minburn, Mingo, Mitchellville, Norwalk, Perry, Pleasant Hill, Polk City, Polk County (Unincorporated), Prairie City, Redfield, Runnells, Sheldahl, Urbandale, Waukee, West Des Moines, Windsor Heights).
