Metro Waste Authority is currently seeking nominations for its eighth annual Environmental Stewardship Awards. These awards reward organizations and individuals in the community who look at the big picture and their impact on the environment. Metro Waste Authority works hard to use environmentally-sound practices in every aspect of the organization, and wants to recognize people who are making a positive impact on the environment.
“The Environmental Stewardship Awards give Metro Waste Authority the opportunity to recognize individuals and organizations who are leaders in developing, implementing and promoting practices that encourage environmental sustainability through recycling, waste reduction, conservation and the efficient use of resources,” said Stacey Warren, chair of MWA’s Board of Directors. “Each one of the past award winners has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to the environment and quality of life in Central Iowa.”

“In every community, there are extraordinary people who are committed environmental stewards working to take care of our natural resources,” said Tom Hadden, Metro Waste Authority’s executive director. “The Environmental Stewardship Awards are a way to help us all acknowledge others in the community who are involved as much as we are in protecting and enhancing Iowa’s environment.”
