Shred Confidential Information Before Placing in Curb It! Cart Posted: 1/27/2010
As tax season rolls around and W-2’s are sent out, we know residents will begin to discard their confidential information in their Curb It! recycling carts. While the processing facility that receives the recycling materials does its best to rip or tear any confidential material they see, there is no guarantee they will catch every piece of paper that goes through. Therefore, we are asking residents to shred or rip up any confidential information (bank statements, checks, credit card statements) prior to placing it in your cart.

Shredded information should be placed in a sealed paper bag or cardboard box (tape or staple shut) to contain the shredded paper from coming out when the cart is tipped into the recycling truck. Loose shredded paper can create a mess in residential areas on windy days.

Together, we can help you prepare for tax season and recycle your confidential materials with peace of mind.
