Ever wonder what happens to all those recyclables once your green Curb It! cart is collected? Well now you can see for yourself!
Metro Waste Authority is pleased to offer tours of the Curb It! Processing Facility operated by Greenstar. Curb It! helps 120,000 households recycle more than 18,000 tons of materials each year. Recyclables collected by the Curb It! program are then picked up and delivered to this facility where mechanical processes, technology and people sort the recyclables so they can be sold for reuse.
Sign up for a tour on March 6 here. Additional tour dates will be added if interest warrants. Children under 14 are not allowed to take the tours. Additional tours for children will be provided later this year. We will provide information about parking and transportation following registration. We recommend wearing casual clothes with closed toed shoes. The facility does have many large, open doors so it is best to dress warmly. Please contact us at 244-0021 with questions.
