In addition to having recyclable materials picked up curbside through the Curb It! program, residents of the MWA's planning area communities can also bring Curb It! and other recyclables to designated drop-off centers.

MWA's Metro Recycling Centers in Des Moines accept everything that the Curb It! program takes.  MWA's Metro Recycling Centers locations are:

• MWA's Regional Collection Center for Household Hazardous Waste

  1st and 3rd Saturday  8:00 a.m. to noon  (Memorial Day to Labor Day, every Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.)

Other recycling centers are located in Elkhart, Mitchellville and Polk City. These recycling centers accept everything that the Curb It! program takes. There is no charge. Recycling drop-off center locations:

• In Mitchellville, First St. and Center Ave., open 24 hours
