Yard Waste Not Picked Up?

Metro Waste Authority does NOT collect yard waste. If your yard waste bags or brush bundles were not picked up, check for possible reasons below or contact your hauler for more information:

Des Moines Residents:
Call Des Moines Solid Waste at 283-4950

Urbandale Residents:
Call Urbandale Engineering and Public Works at 278-3950

Residents of Other Participating Cities:
Call Artistic Waste Services at 262-4040.

Compost It! bags (and containers for a few of the communities) CANNOT weigh more than 40 pounds each. If the hauler thinks the weight is over the 40-pound limit, the material will be left on the curb for the resident to split out into two separate bags (or containers) for collection the following week.

Do not put garbage, plastic bags, or plastic pots in with yard waste.  These items contaiminate the compost that is made from yard trimmings.

Be sure your yard waste is placed at the curb early enough. MWA recommends residents place their yard waste at the curb by 6 a.m. on the day of your collection to be sure it is picked up.

Check to be sure that each store-brand paper bag and brush bundle placed at the curb has a Compost It! sticker attached.
