Human Resources Manager

Reports to: Deputy Director

PURPOSE OF POSITION

Metro Waste Authority is hiring a Human Resources Generalist for the overall management of employee resources. This position provides guidance and oversight of recruitment, selection and retention, compensation and benefits, employee/labor relations, and training and development.

Below is a sampling of the responsibilities managed by this position:

  • Coordinates and administers all activities related to staffing, including creating/reviewing job descriptions, recruiting, selection, interviewing, and post offer screening and onboarding.
  • Plans and executes professional development and training that develops human capital throughout the organization. Furthers the integration of MWA values through training and staff development initiatives. Takes an active role in molding a positive culture at MWA.
  • Conducts and monitors salary surveys; performs pay equity studies and assists with the performance evaluation system.
  • Advises and counsels managers, supervisors, and employees on employee labor relations issues, disciplinary matters, corrective actions, and grievances.
  • Serves as a member of the union negotiation team.
  • Investigates or directs the investigation of complex and/or serious employment matters.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Public Administration, or related field. 
  • Five (5) years of professional experience in human resources required. Public sector preferred.
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP certifications preferred, but not required.
  • Valid driver’s license
