Some Spring Clean-up Postponed Due to COVID-19

Before taking items to the curb, Metro Waste Authority cautions residents to check its website for services affected by COVID-19.

“The current public health emergency is effecting many aspects of our daily lives, and spring clean-up in some communities is no exception,” Metro Waste Authority Executive Director Michael McCoy said.

“To date, eleven spring clean-up events are postponed, along with large item pickup,” McCoy said.

McCoy stressed, residents may take large items to Metro Park East Landfill, which is open regular hours. “We are committed to providing safe, smart disposal; and we are grateful for the resources we have to continue serving the changing needs of the metro. If residents have questions about the cost for disposal at the landfill, we encourage them to give us a call before heading out."

Communities postponed include Altoona, Bondurant, Clive, Des Moines, Grimes, Johnston, Mitchellville, Pleasant Hill, Runnells, Urbandale, and West Des Moines.
