Metro Waste Authority is excited to host its first ever summer camp! The Outdoor Explorers Nature Camp will combine science investigation, crafts and interactive learning activities, and lots of outdoor fun.
Campers will be led by MWA’s Education and Outreach Coordinator, and nationally recognized science educator, Sarah Borzo, as well as our team of Green Iowa AmeriCorps members.
Each day, campers will get to learn about a new topic, such as prairie pollinators or wetland species, while being immersed in the natural habitat around them at MWA’s Environmental Learning Center (ELC) in Mitchellville. The ELC boasts more than 500 acres of restored native prairie, wetland, and oak savanna, home to a variety of plants, animals, and engaging learning opportunities.
Registration is free and open to children entering 3rd - 5th grade, but space is limited, so don’t wait to sign up!
For questions or more information, please contact Sarah Borzo at sbo@mwatoday.com, or Caitlin Tipping at cti@mwatoday.com.
