Are you looking for a unique way to show real life engineering projects? Do you want to see problem solving happening in your community? Take a tour and explore how the Metro Park East Landfill exceeds environmental standards, see unique ways we recycle at the landfill and learn how your community takes care of garbage while keeping the environment safe. This 45-minute tour will take you through Metro Waste Authority’s state-of-the-art landfill, and show how we deal with the always changing issues that come with taking care of your trash! The homeschool tour is scheduled for Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 9:30 a.m..

  • To sign up for a Metro Park East Landfill tour, visit our website.
  • Space is limited and it’s first come, first served
  • We recommend wearing casual clothes and closed-toed shoes. The landfill is not climate controlled. Dress weather appropriate.
  • All participates must gather on the west side of Southeast Polk Junior High School to board the bus for the tour.
