We Have a Place for Your Cardboard!

Cardboard Drop Off

posted 6/6/2018

We’ve noticed a change in the waste coming in to our sites, and you’ve probably noticed it at your home too: LOTS of cardboard!

With the rise in online shopping, many residents and businesses have an overflow of cardboard and aren’t sure how to get rid of it. Metro Waste Authority is always looking to tackle new disposal issues, so we have options for you, including a drop-off just for cardboard at our Metro Northwest Transfer Station in Grimes! We take cardboard that residents and businesses drop off at this facility and bale it on-site to be as efficient as possible before sending it out to be recycled.

Is our Grimes drop-off not convenient for you? We have more recycling drop-offs all around the Metro so you can find one closest to you! If you still want to dispose of cardboard at your curb, remember to flatten boxes because all of the material must fit INSIDE the bin. No cardboard (or other recyclables) left next to or outside of your bin will be collected.

For super-recyclers who have more recycling than their bin can hold most weeks, Metro Waste Authority also offers the Curb It! Extra program, where you can get an extra recycling bin for only $30 for an entire year of collection!
