Get rid of items that aren't your regular trash at our Metro Hazardous Waste Drop-Off. This location takes hazardous products from residents and qualifying businesses. It's also known as "the place that takes paint."
This facility consolidates 75 percent of all residential solid waste and some commercial waste collected within the Polk County area and transports it to Metro Park East Landfill.
Metro Northwest Transfer Station (MNTS) was built to provide a location on the West side of our service area for commercial haulers to deliver waste before it goes to Metro Park East Landfill.
Metro Waste Authority converted this farm property into the Environmental Learning Center. It's located on the SE corner of Metro Park East. Schools and organization are encouraged to use the facility for environmental education.
Composting operations and purchases have relocated to the Metro Park East Landfill.
