Landfill Tours
Calling all curious minds! Once trash leaves your curb, it's easy to not give it a second thought. Metro Waste Authority knows where nearly 2,000 tons of trash ends up every day. Receiving roughly 18% of the state's annual waste, Metro Park East Landfill, in eastern Polk County, is a state-of-the-art landfill.
We offer two different types of tours throughout the year.
Teachers are welcome to schedule a tour for their classrooms, or periodically, public tours are offered.
