If you are reading this, odds are you value recycling. Recycling is exciting because there are many ways you as a consumer can make an impact! Some of us educate our friends on what is recyclable and what isn’t. Some of us utilize the separate drop-off's for cardboard and glass. What if we told you there’s another simple way you can have a positive impact?

Just like any industry, recycling operates by supply and demandThe more you buy products made of recycled materials, the more products that company makes, and the more valuable your recyclables are; if you keep them clean of course!

Next time an item like one of these is on your shopping list, opt for a recycled version instead!

Office Supplies

There are all sorts of office supplies made from recycled materials, ranging from notebooks made from recycled paper or pens made from recycled plastic. You could even grab a box of recycled paper clips!

Clothing

Tons of brands in the textile industry are making a shift toward eco-friendly fashion. For example, many companies use polyester made from recycled plastic bottles. If you check the tags on the clothing it should tell you what it is made of and what percent is recycled.

Shoes

Shoe options made from recycled materials are also expanding. Shoe soles can be made from recycled rubber tires, or corks. Look for details from everything down to the shoelaces!

Household Items

If you’re looking to add a few statement pieces to your space, try drinkware made of recycled glass or artwork that is made of recycled materials. There are even toys made almost entirely from plastic milk jugs.

Before you take your shopping list to the store, do a little research. Find out what materials your products are made of and consider purchasing something that uses the items you throw into your Curb It! cart!
