Metro Hazardous Waste Drop-Off
1105 Prairie Drive SW, Bondurant, IA
If your toy box is overflowing or you’ve discovered that half of last year’s gadgets no longer light up, move, or make noise, you’re not alone. This holiday season, we're helping families clear out the clutter and do something good for the environment at the same time.
Join us Saturday, December 13, from 9 AM - 1 PM at Metro Hazardous Waste Drop-Off in Bondurant for our first-ever holiday used toy drive!
We’re asking residents to bring any toys that light up, move, or make noise - basically anything that runs on batteries - along with any loose household batteries for safe disposal.
Why?
Batteries can cause big problems if they’re tossed in the garbage or recycling. Lithium-ion, button cell, and rechargeable batteries can spark fires in garbage trucks or at processing facilities. By bringing them to a hazardous waste drop-off, you’re keeping our staff, facilities, and community safe.
And it’s not all about disposal. Gently used toys in working condition will be donated to a local nonprofit helping make the holidays brighter for families across Central Iowa. Broken or damaged toys will be properly recycled through our programs, keeping harmful materials out of the landfill.
Families dropping off toys can enjoy photos with Santa, cookies, hot chocolate, and holiday treats, because doing the right thing should be fun too!
Whether your goal is decluttering before the holidays or teaching your kids about responsible recycling, the holiday used toy drive is a simple way to make an impact.
Help us keep batteries out of the landfill, give toys a second life, and make the season a little brighter for everyone.
