2018-2019 Financial Audit for Metro Waste Authority

December 20, 2019 – Metro Waste Authority received an unmodified opinion on its 2018-2019 financial statements. Denman & Company, LLP performed the audit.

The financial statements reported Metro Waste Authority’s operating revenues totaled $37.7 million for the year ending June 30, 2019. This is a .3% increase from 2017-2018. Revenue is generated from Metro Park East Landfill, Metro Park West Landfill, Metro Central Transfer Station, Metro Northwest Transfer Station, Metro Compost Center, and Metro Hazardous Waste Drop-Off.

Operating expenses for the year totaled $24.3 million (excluding depreciation and amortization), which is an increase of 5.2% from the prior year.

An unmodified opinion provides independent confirmation that Metro Waste Authority’s financial statements are presented fairly and in conformity with generally accepted accounting principles. Accurate and timely information ensure Metro Waste Authority’s accountability to its member communities and allows its Board of Directors and staff to make informed operational, budget, and policy decisions.
