Compost It! is a simplified, metro-wide yard waste recycling program. This program includes two types of services: a Standard Service and a Premium Service for participating communities.
The Compost It! program recycles accepted yard waste discarded from single-family and multi-family dwellings. Yard waste can be placed at the curb for pick-up on your area’s scheduled pick-up day or dropped off at the Metro Park East Landfill at the on site composting facility.
Compost It! Season Ends on December 4
The last collection day in most Compost It! communities is Friday, Dec. 4. This date is weather dependent. A significant snowfall will end the program early. This applies to residents of Altoona, Bondurant, Carlisle, Clive, Grimes, Johnston, Norwalk, Pleasant Hill, Urbandale, West Des Moines and Windsor Heights.
