It's easy to recycle with Curb It! Recycle and Roll® – simply toss the accepted recycling materials into your recycling cart and roll it to the curb on your collection day. Curb It! is an automated collection program and there are a few simple cart placement guidelines to follow in order to guarantee a safe and timely pick up.
There is a sticker on the top of each Curb It! Recycle and Roll cart that lets you know when your recycling will be collected. You can also print a copy of the Curb It! Residential Recycling Guide which includes helpful tips, accepted recyclables, and important contact information.
Curb It! recyclables are picked up by our contracted hauler, Waste Management and delivered to Greenstar where the recyclables are sorted so they can be sold for reuse. Greenstar is in
the process of building a material recovery facility that will use mechanical processes, technology and people to sort recyclables collected by the Curb It! program. Until that facility is completed, Greenstar is using manpower to sort recyclables so they can be sold for reuse.
Acceptable Items:
Due to the way some plastic items are made, not all plastics are compatible with each other, even if they share the same resin code. Therefore, we can only recycle certain plastic items.

Unacceptable Items:
Even though these items are unacceptable for our Curb It! recycling program, many of these can be recycled in other ways. For example, yard debris can be recycled through our
Compost It! program, and plastic bags can be recycled at the grocery store. Visit our
Where Does It Go? guide for additional disposal options.
Shredded Paper Recycling Guidelines
When your throw shredded paper in your recycling cart, it must be contained in a paper sack, cereal box or pop can box - never a plastic bag. If shredded paper isn't contained or is in a plastic bag it ends up in the landfill. The sorting process can't capture the small pieces and plastic bags - empty or full - are pulled from the materials first thing to prevent equipment damage. Also, be sure to fold down the paper sack or close the cereal box. You can even tape or staple it shut.
Curb It! Contamination Policy
Residents who blatantly misuse their recycling cart for garbage or yard waste disposal repeatedly may have their recycling cart removed. Several warnings will be issued, and if the problem persists, the resident will be subject to the Curb It! contamination policy. Please call us at 244-0021 with questions.
