Bulk Purchasing

Bulk compost sales are available at Metro Northwest Transfer Station in Grimes and Metro Compost Center at Metro Park East Landfill in Mitchellville. There is a minimum purchase of 1 cubic yard. Compost is loaded with a front loader, so only trucks with open-top loading can be filled. No self-loading is allowed at this facility. 

Metro Northwest Transfer Station

  • Hours: Monday - Friday 9 AM - 3:30 PM
  • Residential customers: $19 per cubic yard 
  • Commercial customers: $33 per cubic yard 
  • Limit of 4 cubic yards per day

Metro Compost Center at Metro Park East Landfill

  • Hours: Monday - Friday 6:30 AM - 4:30 PM, Saturday 7 AM - 2 PM
  • Residential customers: $14 per cubic yard 
  • Commercial customers: $28 per cubic yard

Cash and major credit cards are all accepted.
