Get rid of unused hazardous products in a safe, smart way at our Northwest Drop-Off located at the Metro Northwest Transfer Station in Grimes. The second Saturday during the months of March to December, residents can bring up to 75 lbs of household hazardous waste free of charge unless otherwise noted. Click here for hours and location information.  

Below is a list of accepted and not accepted items. (Note: Items accepted at the Northwest Drop-Off location are different than items accepted at the Metro Hazardous Waste Drop-Off in Bondurant).

  • Fire Extinguishers- $8 each

  • Glues
  • Gasoline & Kerosene
  • Latex Paint - $1/gallon or $5/five gallon container
  • Motor Oil (used)

  • Propane Bottles - $1 each (ONLY 1lb bottle)
